Yellow Ochre Medium is one of the oldest and most enduring pigments known to mankind, having been used in decorative painting and artistic practice for thousands of years. Derived from naturally occurring iron oxide-rich earths, yellow ochres have been found in prehistoric cave paintings and have remained an essential component of traditional paints throughout classical, medieval and later architectural periods. Their warm golden tones and exceptional permanence have ensured their continued use in both historic and contemporary decoration.

Renowned for its excellent lightfastness and compatibility with breathable paint systems, Yellow Ochre Medium has been widely employed in limewash, distemper, casein paints and other traditional wall paints. Its warm, earthy character makes it particularly suitable for historic interiors and exteriors, where it can be used to create soft creams, stone colours and muted yellows. It blends harmoniously with umbers, siennas and other earth pigments to produce authentic and enduring period colour palettes.

Rose of Jericho supplies high-quality Yellow Ochre Medium pigment for use in traditional decorative finishes and conservation projects. Its natural mineral composition, outstanding durability and timeless character make it an indispensable pigment for the restoration and decoration of historic buildings and the creation of elegant, harmonious colour schemes.
