This group encompasses a range of subdued greys and mineral greens informed by the colours found in stone, landscape and traditional pigments. Such hues have historically occupied a modest but important place within interior decoration, providing a muted counterpoint to stronger earth colours. Their close affinity with naturally occurring materials lends them a softness and chromatic subtlety well suited to limewashed surfaces, distempers and mineral paints.
