Such hues have been used extensively in lime plasters, frescoes and painted finishes since antiquity, their warmth and muted intensity lending themselves equally to domestic and ecclesiastical settings. Prepared using artist-quality earth and mineral pigments, these colours retain the complexity and gentle modulation that distinguish surfaces coloured with naturally occurring materials.
