Specifications

  • Construction: Two-knot (two separate bristle bundles bound side by side)
  • Bristle: Pure natural bristle (50mm per knot)
  • Ferrule: Metal banding around each knot
  • Handle: Beech wood

How to use

The two-knot design holds significantly more paint than a standard flat brush — the gap between the bundles acts as a reservoir, letting you load up and cover large areas without constantly going back to the bucket. That makes it the right tool for:

  • Limewash and whitewash on rough, untreated surfaces (brick, stone, render)
  • Traditional distempers on heritage walls
  • Wallpaper paste application on large drops
  • Any thin, water-based traditional paint where coverage matters more than precision

Pre-dampen the bristles before first use. Apply in loose, irregular strokes — work the paint into the surface texture rather than across it. Hold the brush at right angles to the wall on rough surfaces so the bristle tips do the work.

Care

Wash thoroughly straight after use - limewash and distemper are alkaline and dry the bristles out if left to set. Rinse from the ferrule downward through the bristles, never against. Reshape both knots and hang to dry by the handle hole. Never leave standing in water.

Note

Some natural bristle shedding is normal, especially in the first few uses - it settles after a couple of jobs. The two-knot construction is a traditional design that's been used for centuries on heritage buildings - proper technique and care will keep this brush working for years.
