Golden Ochre is a traditional natural earth pigment valued for its rich golden-yellow hue and exceptional permanence. Derived from iron oxide-rich mineral deposits, ochre pigments have been used in decorative painting for thousands of years, from prehistoric cave art to the frescoes of the classical world and the painted finishes of the Georgian and Victorian periods. Their warmth, subtlety and durability have made them among the most enduring pigments in architectural history.

Highly regarded for its excellent lightfastness and compatibility with breathable paint systems, Golden Ochre has been widely employed in limewash, distemper, casein paints and other traditional wall paints. Its warm, honeyed tones are particularly well suited to historic interiors and exteriors, where they can be used to create soft yellows, natural stone colours and complex earth shades. It blends readily with siennas, umbers and other mineral pigments to produce authentic and harmonious period colour palettes.

Rose of Jericho supplies high-quality Golden Ochre pigment for use in traditional decorative finishes and conservation projects. Its natural mineral composition, outstanding durability and timeless warmth make it an indispensable pigment for the restoration and decoration of historic buildings and the creation of elegant, enduring colour schemes.
