Ultramarine Blue Light is a brilliant mineral pigment renowned for its clear, vibrant blue hue and exceptional permanence. Originally derived from the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli and prized above gold during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, ultramarine became more widely available following the development of synthetic Ultramarine Blue in the early nineteenth century. Its distinctive luminosity and purity of colour have made it one of the most celebrated blue pigments in the history of art and decoration.

Highly valued for its excellent lightfastness and compatibility with traditional paint systems, Ultramarine Blue Light has been widely used in limewash, distemper, casein paints and other breathable wall paints. Its bright, slightly warm tone is particularly well suited to historic interiors and exteriors, where it can be employed to create delicate sky blues, strong architectural accents and authentic period colour schemes. It blends readily with earth pigments to produce a wide range of subtle and enduring shades.

Rose of Jericho supplies high-quality Ultramarine Blue Light pigment for use in traditional decorative finishes and conservation projects. Its outstanding durability, vibrant character and historical significance make it an indispensable pigment for the restoration and decoration of historic buildings and the creation of timeless colour palettes.
