Description
This colour was developed for the brick red limewash applied to the external elevations of Kew Palace. Evidence that the Palace had been brickwashed in the 17th century was long-lost and long-forgotten until a lead rainwater hopper was removed for repair during the mid-1990s conservation works revealing the red limewash beneath. The colour was analysed and matched by blending an Italian red earth with a natural golden ochre from Saxony.
