Additional information

Our Hamstone Dust is a premium, crushed limestone aggregate sourced directly from the iconic quarries of Somerset. Renowned for its distinctive warm, honey-gold hue, this dust is an essential component for any conservation professional or homeowner looking to achieve a seamless aesthetic match with traditional Hamstone masonry.

Unlike synthetic pigments, using genuine Hamstone dust ensures that your lime mortars and renders possess the same geological DNA as the host stone, maintaining both the visual integrity and the breathability of the building.

  • Authentic Color Match: Provides the unmistakable amber-buff finish characteristic of West Country heritage architecture.

  • Natural Aggregate: Contains the unique shell fragments and mineral variations found in natural Ham Hill stone.

  • Chemically Compatible: Perfectly suited for use with Natural Hydraulic Limes (NHL) and traditional lime putties, ensuring a sympathetic bond.

  • Versatile Finishes: Can be used as a primary aggregate or blended with sands to "tone" a mortar to a specific historic shade.

Availability

<2.36mm - Coarse / Gritty: Best for bedding mortars and deep-joint repointing where a textured, "rugged" historic finish is required. <1.18mm - Medium / Standard: The versatile "all-rounder" for general pointing and external renders that require a consistent, golden appearance. 600um - Fine / Superfine: Ideal for fine-jointed ashlar masonry, "plastic" stone repairs (lithomex), and as a natural coloring agent in lime washes.
