Traditional Paints and Painting Techniques Workshop

Posted 25th January 2022

Francis Stacey and Rose of Jericho held their first joint training session on 21st January 2022.

The full-day workshop was held at Rose of Jericho’s Horchester Farm in Dorset and was led by Francis Stacey of F E Stacey & Co (pictured above). Francis has extensive knowledge of conservation lime work and fine decorative painting with traditional paints from restoring many historically important buildings. He shared his practical knowledge of using historically authentic limewashes and distempers, demonstrating the correct application as well as more advanced decorative techniques such as grisaille.

Tom Balch, Director of Rose of Jericho, said “We were pleased to work with Francis on developing this course. His craftsmanship and wealth of conservation experience, combined with his knowledge of using our limewashes and paints, made him an ideal partner to deliver this and future courses.”

This is the first in what we hope will be a series of training courses available this year. More details will be added on our website in due course.
