Environmental Considerations

Contains no added lead. Water-based. Actual VOC content <5g/l. 2010 EU limit 30g/litre. All Rose of Jericho paints comply with the latest environmental legislation.

Usage/Purpose

To be used for the decoration of walls and ceilings. For interior use only. Porous surfaces may need priming with a mist coat of vinyl matt emulsion thinned with up to 10% water prior to the application of further coats. Rose of Jericho Vinyl Matt Emulsion is not as wipeable as modern vinyl emulsion paints.

Coverage

12-14 m2/ litre/coat on smooth surface of average porosity.

Finish

Matt, chalky finish with subtle variations in colour and tone. All Rose of Jericho paints are made using powder pigments. Colour and tone variations due to these pigments and differing porosity of surfaces are inevitable. The intention is that our emulsion paints possess some of the lack of uniformity and charm of a traditional limewash or distemper paint finish.

Preparation

All surfaces should be sound, clean, dry, and free from dirt, oil, grease or other contamination. Vinyl Matt Emulsion can be applied to lining paper and previously emulsion painted surfaces. Porous surfaces should be primed with a mist coat of paint diluted with up to 10% water. Any algae or mould must be treated with a fungicide and making good and filling should be carried out with a material appropriate to the substrate. It is recommended that a trial be carried out to ensure that the surface is suitable for application.

Application

Stir well before use. Vinyl Matt Emulsion is best applied by brush. Two full coats recommended. Thinning is not normally necessary for primed or previously painted surfaces. Coverage. 12-14 m2/ litre/coat on smooth surface of average porosity. Brushes and equipment should be cleaned with warm, soapy water immediately after use.
